About

Welcome to the captivating world of Willie Washington, an artist whose life's journey has been as colorful and diverse as his artwork. Born in the town of Tutwiler, Mississippi in 1953, Willie's artistic talents began to blossom at a young age. However, it was when his parents relocated to the bustling city of Chicago when he was just five years old that his passion for art truly ignited.

Throughout his formative years, Willie demonstrated remarkable drawing abilities that caught the attention of his teachers and peers alike. After graduating from Harper High School, he embarked on a transformative journey that took him on an adventure of self-discovery and artistic growth.

Answering the call to serve his country, Willie dedicated over four years of his life to the U.S. Air Force, stationed in the enchanting landscapes of New Mexico. It was during this time that the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the region significantly influenced his artistic sensibilities.

Following his service, Willie chose to pursue his lifelong dream of studying art in depth. He found himself at New Mexico State of Alamogordo, where he honed his skills, delving into the intricacies of various artistic techniques and styles. The desert landscapes and vibrant cultures of New Mexico continued to inspire and influence his work. Moving back to Chicago he attended the renowned  Art Institute of Chicago. There he studied photography, sculpturing, and Painting.

His thirst for knowledge and artistic expression took him further on his creative odyssey, as he enrolled at Daley College. There, he had the privilege of being mentored by two esteemed professors who were graduates of the renowned Art Institute of Chicago, further shaping his unique artistic vision.

Life's adventures eventually led Willie to the tranquil shores of Kauai, Hawaii, where he immersed himself in the lush, breathtaking landscapes and the spiritual essence of the islands. Over five years, Hawaii became a muse, infusing his creations with the essence of paradise and a sense of deep connection to nature.
